HEALTHY NEWS

Sept 18, 2015:
Wow, we saw the movie PlantPure Nation last night at UC and loved it but what was even bigger than the movie was that it was hosted and promoted by the UC College of Medicine! Dr. Rekha Chaudhry (oncologist) & John M. Tew, Jr., MD (world renown neurosurgeon) showed they are committed to sharing the power of a whole foods, plant based diet to heal disease. They have initiated a plan to study within the UC college of medicine, the data from the three whole food plant based diet studies done by the PlantPure team in NC.
Folks this is a game changer, a tipping point that will expose the current med students to a wealth of real world data that supports a plant based diet as a better/safer option for disease treatment and lend credibility that a plant based diet should be part of the treatment for many of today’s diseases. It also lends credibility so that the local news (with the exception of Ch 5) covered it well.

Cincinnati is in a unique position to show the country and the world that whole food plant based nutrition has a strong place in conventional medicine. PlantPure folks have set up PODS in each city to bring like minded people together in this effort.  We need to support this effort, encourage and support the people involved, and build this Cincinnati Pod to be the biggest and most productive in the nation. Let’s get the word out and continue the momentum!

Kudos to Dr. Chaudhry, she is a pioneer in her field.

One of the UC doctors that brought the PlantPure movie to Cincinnati was Dr John M. Tew. He has a nice video about the path to health titled:

3/20/11 Rachel & Rich attended a cardiology conference in Kettering to hear Dr. Cauldwell Esselstyn (author of Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease) give a 1 hour talk on the cause and cure of heart disease. It was a great presentation and we learned a lot. Here are a few interesting stats: With conventional treatments for heart disease the recurrence rate is 20% within 5 yrs. With a plant based diet as the "treatment" the recurrence rate is ½ % - a 40 times difference! With 45% of Medicare spending solely on heart disease you would think someone in Washington would be smart enough to figure out that they could save over 238 billion dollars per year just by getting heart disease patients on a plant based diet.

I have followed Dr Esselstyn's work for 9 years and I can say that he is a true pioneer and he has dedicated his life to helping people understand that heart disease, the biggest killer of Americans, is "a toothless paper tiger that need never exist"

Here is Rachel with the good Dr. Esselstyn.

10/4/11 Eating Eggs Linked to Cancer - an 81% increased risk!!!

Eating Eggs Linked to Cancer

Eating eggs is linked to developing prostate cancer, according to a new National Institutes of Health-funded study. By consuming 2.5 eggs per week, men increased their risk for a deadly form of prostate cancer by 81 percent, compared with men who consumed less than half an egg per week. Researchers followed 27,607 men who were part of the Health Professionals Follow-up Study from 1994 to 2008. For men who already had prostate cancer, eating poultry and processed red meat increased their risk for death.

Rachel took the floor not once , not twice but three times to let all those in attendance know that the answer to at least 8 of the top 10 health problems are the result of eating animal products as food. In this 13 min video you will also see a video light explode at the 40 sec mark.

4/1/11 - LIVE from City Hall
The taping of the 30 min talk show “Be the Change”  on CitiCable went very well. The host Robert Harris was supportive and Rachel and I got to talk about most of the topics we had on our list.  Once again Mary Ann hits the ball out of the park by putting us together with Robert Harris.  I think everyone will be pleased that we covered all the reasons to go plant based, not just health.  We also brought some nice stuffed peppers and sushi  and fed Robert on the air.  The show aired on Time Warner Cable channel 23 during the month of June in Cincinnati. It's 28 minutes long - watch it here

3/29/11 - Cincinnati Health Department WCPO Report titled
" Cincinnati not as healthy as other cities"

Commentary:
Besides accidents and murder, the remaining 8 of the top 10 causes of death that we Cincinnatians are excelling in are all diseases of eating the wrong foods; every one of them. We must ask the question, when will the Health Dept. stop playing games with statistical studies and start telling the public that it's their diet that is killing them and causing their sickness.

Pharmaceutical Rep Blows whistle on a corrupt industry:
A fifteen-year-veteran pharmaceutical rep from 1985 – 2000, Gwen Olsen worked for McNeil Pharmaceutical, Syntex Laboratories, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Abbott Labs and Forest Laboratories. She was a hospital rep and specialist rep for the majority of her career, educating residents in hospital teaching settings and selling prescription drugs to doctors in obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, cardiology, neurology, endocrinology and psychiatry. Gwen has a unique industry insider’s perspective of the current U.S. healthcare dilemma, and utilizes both her experience and the insight she received in her extensive sales training with Pharma to illuminate marketing trends and illustrate how current greed and conflicts of interest make the system itself the biggest health risk to American consumers. In the video below, Gwen blows the lid off Big Pharma's greed motivations and how taking the pharmaceutical route, be it for heart disease, cancer, mental health or other issues, can be a tragic decision. She is an advocate of people informing themselves about diet and lifestyle, and taking charge of their health, rather than becoming victims of a warped, dishonest drug business. After watching click on the YOUTUBE button on the lower right and read the comments left on this video.

Forbear, mortals, to pollute your bodies with the flesh of animals. There is corn, there are apples that bear down the branches by their weight; and there are the grapes, nuts and vegetables. These shall be our food.
